This is the only university school of Wood Science and Wood Engineering in France.The School is a growing research centre, specialising in both fundamental and applied studies on wood products, and on products for and from wood.  One of its main research activities is the research on the use of forestry derived tannins for a variety of non-traditional applications, namely tannin-based adhesives and resins for a variety of high value-added applications. The strong concentration of research interests on the fundamental chemistry and the industrial application of tannins renders this University school ideal as a major research partner of the project on tannin based foams. It is the only university school in Europe haveing achieved twice the finalist prize of the Descartes Prize of the European Commission.
